For podcasts, articles, panels and research. Everything you need is on this page: a short bio, a photo and topics. His current argument is Work is coming apart.
Mark Maynard · Business-technology consultant · fractional CTO & AI officer · founding member of Stratapault
Short bio
Mark Maynard trained in law, then spent 25 years analysing organisations and building technology for them, much of it for UK police forces, NHS trusts, Children’s Health Ireland and public bodies, where it had to be right first time. He holds an MBA in Technology Management (Merit), The Open University, is studying AI governance and the EU AI Act, and is a founding member of Stratapault, a separate business that builds a digital twin of an organisation, read with an experienced operator. His research, at digitaltwin.org.uk, argues that work is coming apart: from roles into capabilities that people, software and AI can each do.
Topics
Work is coming apart
From job titles to capabilities: units of input, transformation and output, done by a person, software, AI or a mix.
You need a twin first
Why no organisation should redesign its work before it can see it, and how to experiment on the copy, not the company.
Stop writing an AI strategy
Why we think the place to start is writing down how work actually gets done.
Shadow AI, without the panic
What staff are really using, how to find out in an afternoon, and what to do next.
Buy outputs, not hours
Buying work by its output, and how that can go badly wrong (Goodhart’s law).
Delegate the doing, keep the deciding
What an organisation must never hand to software, however good it gets.
Technology that has to be right first time
Lessons from forensic imaging systems for police forces and NHS trusts, for anyone deploying AI.
